Alex how are you - I'm doing good Joe how are you doing today I'm doing fantastic!
 
We're going into a cooler time of year and you guys are busy all year round
 
because when that garage door spring decides to break or when any other part
 
fails on a garage door it really doesn't discriminate when it's hot it does it
 
and when it's cold it does it now I've heard when we have cold weather we're
 
more likely to have some issues with our garage doors is that true
 
yeah absolutely with those extreme temperature changes um especially here
 
in Texas and being so hot to so cold just puts more stress on those parts
 
those Springs will kind of break a little bit more often around this time
 
of the year when it gets colder it's our busiest time of the year actually
 
yeah so you know let's talk a little bit about the science of this without
 
getting too deep I understand in extreme temperatures that spring which is under
 
tension it's ready to do its job which is to bring that door up it's there to
 
balance the door when we have extreme temperatures let's say uh a cold snap
 
that change can really wreak havoc on the tension of that spring it can
 
literally just go bang and pop exactly and when it does it means the garage door spring doesn't work and when the garage door spring doesn't work you cannot lift that garage door it is there to make the garage door go up and down easier it is there for that garage door opener to easily open and close that door Beyond Springs other issues too proper lubrication that's important when we change
 
temperatures as well tell me about that yeah so the lubrication is always
 
important um you know with the temperature change things can dry out damage those rollers uh when they'll Lube on the track those can get worn down um spring even needs to be lubricated um to the hinges pretty much a well lubricated door throughout the year is very important to have with
 
the temperature changes so your door is always functioning when you need to get
 
out of that garage I recommend minimum once a year to have
 
a professional garage door company like Eco garage doors come out and maintain
 
your garage door what are they going to be looking for they're going to be
 
looking for some changes in the shift of the door possibly the track may move
 
lubrication tightening everything up and they're going to look at that spring as
 
well what else would you be looking at Alex your bottom seal your hinges your
 
bearings everything that's on that door that's a moving part we take a look at
 
uh we'll replace for preventative maintenance make sure that your door is

I'm a lucky guy because I get to talk to professionals in home service all the time.And my listeners often contact me to ask questions of these experts.I've asked Alex Dalton to join me here on the program today from Eco Garage Door service because we have a question for him today.Alex.How are you?I'm doing great and I'm glad to be here as always.Yeah,you're the expert here on the program today for garage doors.Here's a question that's come in my garage door is stuck in the up position.What's wrong could be a couple different things.Majority of the time it's the safety eyes on your opener,um their missile lines.Um They could even be bad and your door is not wanting to shut because it thinks that something's in the way.Um Other times it could also be something like a cable off the track to where your door is kind of a little bit crooked,stuck in the up position,um that there's a few different things that could be.And whenever that happens,I,I highly recommend checking out the safety eyes and if it's not that giving the professional a call.Just so things don't get messed up or worse than what they already are.Yeah.And just,you know,I'll tell everybody listening when it comes to garage doors,you need to be really careful.Um,they can be very dangerous.So if your garage door is stuck in the up position,if it's stuck in the down position,if you hear a large bang and it won't go up and down anymore.If the garage door opener just isn't doing its job.If the light is blinking,there could be a lot of things that maybe Alex and his team can troubleshoot over the phone but be careful because those springs are under high,high,high tension and it's extremely dangerous.That's why I make sure I have Alex on the program to help all of you.If you need some help with your garage doors,call Alex and his team at Eco garage door service.All of his information is located in the description of this podcast.Thanks,Alex.Thank you.

There's been a lot of theft in my neighborhood recently where people leave their garage doors open uh sometimes people like to go in there and you know see what they can find one of the cool things with my Q features is you can set a timer at 10:00 o'clock rolls around you can just have your door automatically shut. This is the check a pro radio show, Check A Pro Joe has assembled a team of pre-qualified home service contractors to bring you the latest in services products and techniques now here's your host the man with a hard hat and tool belt check a pro Joe today there's all kinds of technology to help us around the home I don't know if you know this but there's a system for your garage door actually it's kind of your garage door operator the garage door opener is called my queue and what it does is it allows you to basically automate your garage door so I've asked Alex Dalton he is an expert in the garage door business from eco garage door service Alex how are you I'm doing good today how are you doing I'm doing fantastic the my q garage door system it's a great way for people to automate their garage door system yeah absolutely it's Wi-Fi capable there so you can always you know check if your door is open or shut there's a bunch of settings on there.  There's been a lot of theft in my neighborhood recently where people leave their garage doors open sometimes people like to go in there and you know see what they can find and one of the cool things that I'm IQ features is you can set a timer at 10:00 o'clock rolls around you can just have your door automatically shut get a nice little notification to your phone and your home is nice and locked up and safe for you yeah that's just one of the features you can also allow people to come in once or multiple times like the Amazon guy right yeah the Amazon guy packages are also big thing that are getting stolen these days Amazon actually has a feature where they can open your door stick that package in there for you and shut that door right up for you a lot of these new openers are coming with cameras on them as well so you can monitor when that's happening make sure that that's all they're doing in your garage as well there's some other cool features on there like if your door is acting up your door is not wanting to open your door is not shutting you can actually just send a diagnostics report to us as if we're on there as your registered dealer and we get that report we can kind of troubleshoot it over the phone with you or we know what we're walking into and what needs to be done right away you know we're also is really cool if you're going on vacation you're at the airport or you're maybe already on the beach in Hawaii you're thousands of miles away from home much like you can look on your phone at a camera at your property you can also see if the garage door is open maybe you thought you left it open but of course if you programmed it it went down to 10:00 o'clock at night but the point is is at any point in time you can monitor what the garage is doing yeah absolutely it's a great feature I used two drive away from my house all the time before I had that set up and I'd always think in my head did I close my door and then you kind of just freak out a little bit sometimes you take the risk and you go back home and you realize you shot it it's just been nice to have that at your fingertips and with the my queue you can have that at your fingertips for some reason your neighbor calls you and says hey you know what I've got something to return I've got the lawn mower to return to you and you say you know what I'm actually in Hawaii on the beach sorry you're not here with me but here I'm going to open up the garage right now and I can actually see you while you do this and let's roll it in and I'll close it after you're done exactly that's crazy great Alex Dalton from eco garage door service give him a call and he can set you up with the my q garage door system it's not that expensive at all and it's really a great value all of Alex's contact information is in the description of this podcast thanks alex thanks for having me check a pro is your local source for pre-qualified contractors stay tuned for more of the cheka pro radio show.
